Since sandwich panels’ compact shapes and dimensions allow for a lightweight product, installation becomes incredibly easy, and therefore construction is a lot faster compared to traditional solutions.

Moreover, old elements can also be replaced with sandwich panels without major modifications, may that be a cover of timber, metal sheets, fiber cement sheets or anything else – these panels can easily be used for a simple roof renovation.

It’s important to know that sandwich panels are self-supporting structures. That means that unlike a brick wall, for example, they don’t need a foundation. All that’s necessary is a support frame where the panels can be fixed with screws. The frame may be made of steel, wood or reinforced concrete. Their light weight makes them perfectly suitable for old buildings’ renovation, too.

Easy installation and excellent thermal insulation are the characteristics that make sandwich panels an economic choice in the long run.

We have to note that in this case, economic application does not mean poor quality. Sandwich panels are highly resistant to weather and corrosion. Manufacturers use plastic coated galvanized steel sheets as panel cover. Several types are available depending on the usage, for example polyester, Foodsafe (for enhanced hygiene requirements), PVDF (most durable), stone wool or polyurethane.

Heating and cooling system installation and maintenance are just the first steps, and unfortunately are not much of a help if heating and cooling energy is lost through walls or roofs.

Thermal insulation is the overall and lasting solution.

It is common knowledge that warm air rises, therefore the most critical surface is the roof. If the roof insulation is not sufficient, that’s where we’ll loose warm air.

Sandwich panel roof is an excellent solution for thermal insulation. Steel sheets are glued to each side, creating a big compact unit.

Thermal insulation capability only depends on the builder’s needs and on fire safety requirements. PUR foam is well knows as a filling material, but people are a lot less familiar with PIR foam, with much better fire safety characteristics. PIR foam is not only capable of decreasing heat release but also decreases smoke production.

Therefore you want to choose a panel type that meets both the fire safety and thermal insulation requirements. By tailoring the sandwich panel type to the building and its function, we will get a better, more economic, high quality and safe solution both on short and long term.
